Care and support work

Recognise support skills and distinguish service requirements from healthcare duties.

Tasks and skills

Supporting daily activities, companionship and reporting issues require respect for choice, privacy and safety. Caring experience can provide examples but is not automatically a professional authorisation.

Requirements and learning

The Atención a Personas en Situación de Dependencia qualification covers home and institutional care. Ask which qualification, certificate or authorisation the particular service requires. Healthcare duties have their own requirements.

Conditions and alternatives

Ask about home or centre work, moving people, support equipment, coordination and shifts. Do not store care recipients’ personal data in your skills folder. Explore training or recognition with guidance.
