Morocco: recognition of ESO and Bachillerato
Which Moroccan studies support each application, how to prepare transcripts, apostille original documents and submit your application in Spain.
Identify the qualification you need
The Ministry's table separates the current and previous systems. It guides your application; recognition is granted through a Spanish decision after your file is assessed. You do not need prior recognition to join an ESO class.
ESO school-leaving qualification
The current table places Tronc commun at Spanish ESO year 4. Also prepare records for the three preceding secondaire collégial years. The Brevet d’études collégiales, awarded after collégial year 3, does not alone prove completion of the year corresponding to ESO year 4.
Bachiller qualification
Apply after passing Baccalauréat year 2 and obtaining the Baccalauréat diploma. Include transcripts for Tronc commun and Baccalauréat years 1 and 2, plus the final examination results certificate.

Gather the right documents
Request official documents from your school and the education authority that issues them. Check your identity, subjects, marks and academic years, and correct discrepancies before paying for translations.
- For ESO: certified records of the four years listed above and the stage completion diploma or certificate, where one exists.
- For Bachiller: diploma, records of the last three years and Relevé de notes du Baccalauréat. A results screenshot does not replace an official certificate.
- Identification and application: you can use a passport without obtaining an NIE solely to start. If someone acts for you, include their identification and authority to represent you. Include earlier Spanish school records if applicable.
- Take the apostilled originals and translations to the registry for verified copies. Originals are returned after checking or scanning.
Apostille in Morocco
The Apostille Convention has applied in Morocco since 14 August 2016. Spain's Education Office requires academic originals stamped by the education administration and apostilled: authenticating a photocopy or only the translation does not replace this step.
- Use Apostille.ma to prepare your request. State Spain as the destination and educational recognition as the purpose; check which authority handles your document.
- For administrative documents, the portal identifies the relevant prefecture or province's wali or governor, or their representatives. A valid apostille does not need additional Spanish consular legalisation.
Translate after authentication
Academic documents in Arabic or French must be accompanied by an official Spanish translation. Use of French by a Moroccan office does not remove this Spanish requirement.
- One accepted route is a sworn translator authorised or registered in Spain. Have the final complete documents translated, including stamps and the apostille.
- The Ministry also accepts other official routes, including foreign translations with the translator's signature duly legalised. Check acceptance and obtain a quote before ordering.

Calculate each cost separately
The Spanish application fee and document preparation expenses are separate. There is no single fee covering the entire application.
- ESO: no Spanish application fee. Bachiller: published fee of €49.76; check the amount on form 790, fee 079, when downloading it.
- In Spain, use the official form at a participating bank. From abroad, follow the Ministry's transfer instructions and pay bank charges in addition to the full fee.
- A current official price for the complete Moroccan issuing and apostille process has not been corroborated. Confirm it with the authority; request translation and any delivery quotes.

Submit your application from Murcia
Open the Spanish procedure, complete the application and submit it with your documents through the appropriate registry channel. Filling in the form or paying does not register the application.
- The main “ESO and Bachillerato recognition” guide explains registration, tracking and assistance in Murcia. Keep your submission receipt and respond to requests for information.
- If you live in Morocco, Spain's Education Office explains its remit and available registries. If you need to enrol while waiting, check the conditional enrolment document and its limitations.
Check your education system
The table's second page covers the previous system: secondary year 5 for ESO and year 7 with Baccalauréat for Bachiller. Do not mix its names with those of the current system.
- If you changed systems, attended a foreign-system school in Morocco or lack certificates, ask the processing authority about your exact qualifications and dates.
- An apostille authenticates a document; it does not grant recognition. No intermediary can guarantee approval or replace official records.
